"It's really humiliating. As soon as I'm offered a job, I start worrying about when the panic attack will come." Out of fear of the anxiety, he prepares intensively for his roles for months and puts in a huge amount of effort. "I can't say whether it really helps the performance or whether it's just a desperate attempt to control my anxiety," said the 64-year-old. "Maybe it's both."
Grant became famous for romantic comedies such as "Four Weddings and a Funeral", "Noting Hill" and "Love Actually... Love". From today (December 26), he can be seen in German cinemas in the role of Mr. Reed in the horror film "Heretic".
Mr. Reed is a charming-looking gentleman with a grandfatherly aura who turns out to be a psychopath. He lures two young Mormon women (played by Sophie Thatcher and Chloe East) into his house and entangles them in a conversation about faith and doubt. He doesn't lose his friendly smile over the course of the movie, but he does lose his apparent harmlessness. You can guess: It doesn't stop at a conversation, the women won't be leaving the house any time soon.
