In a breathtaking final, Grant Fisher set a world record of 7:22.91 minutes over 3000 meters indoors. The American, two-time bronze medalist at the Olympic Games in Paris (5000 meters, 10,000 meters), kept up Cole Hocker's pace right to the end and put in a strong acceleration on the last bend and in the final sprint, which was accompanied by a fiery atmosphere.

Fisher broke the previous record of the Ethiopian Lamecha Girma (7:23.81 minutes, 2023).

The crowd barely had time to catch their breath when American Yared Nuguse, who had won the bronze medal in the 1500 meters in Paris, smashed the world record for the mile in 3:46.63 minutes.
