Angelo Peña from Bern wins the WBO Intercontinental title against Hiroki Hanabusa from Japan in front of his home crowd.

Angelo Peña has done it. The super featherweight with Caribbean roots fought Japan's Hiroki Hanabusa for the "Intercontinental Title of the World Boxing Organization" (WBO). The local hero won clearly on points in Bern. The three judges saw him ahead with scores of 99:91, 100:90 and 98:92. He can now look forward to a fight for the WBO world title, one of the five major world associations.

Middleweight boxer Ramadan Hiseni from Volketswil loses his fight against Eugeniusz Makarczuk. The Polish champion was the deserved winner over ten rounds and won unanimously on points.

Lightweight Christopher Mouafo did better than his compatriot Hiseni. The Biel native with roots in Cameroon defeated Jonniel Laurente from the Philippines to win the vacant WBO Global title with a unanimous points victory.
