The Swiss had a harder time than expected. It took until the 14th minute before they took the lead for the first time in the match at 8:7. After scoring three goals in a row to make it 12:9 (20th minute), they seemed to take control. However, the Turks did not allow themselves to be left behind - not even after going 21:18 ahead in the 40th minute. The score was 24:24 in the 49th minute and the hosts then pulled away to 28:24 (53'), but victory was not secured until Lukas Laube made it 30:27 with 57 seconds remaining.

The Swiss side improved in defense compared to the away game. But in attack, they failed no fewer than 17 times against Turkish keeper Yunus Özmusul. The home side's top scorer was set-up man Felix Aellen, who converted seven of his eight shots. Returning player Jonas Schelker, who scored five times with two missed shots, also deserves special mention.

With five points from four games, the Swiss are in second place in Group 7 behind Germany. The last two qualifying matches are scheduled for May. On May 7, the Swiss will host Germany in Zurich's Hallenstadion, followed four days later by Austria in Graz. The top two teams in each of the eight groups plus the four best third-placed teams will qualify for the 2026 European Championship finals.
