But Stefan Bellmont still put in a good performance. He managed five shots with 180 points.

Bellmont started as an outsider. In the world rankings, Bellmont (no. 124) was 88 places behind Wattimena (no. 36). And the Dutchman proved that he is rightly ranked high.

Wattimena secured the first two sets with 3:1 games. In the third round, Bellmont managed three 180 series and a break (to go 1-0 up), but Wattimena prevailed again, this time 3-2.

Bellmont's chances of playing in the Ally Pally again in a year's time have increased in recent weeks. In a year's time, the World Darts Championship will be increased from 96 to 128 players.
