Zrinka Ljutic celebrates her first World Cup victory in the slalom in Semmering. The 20-year-old Croatian outclasses the competition by almost two seconds. Camille Rast narrowly misses out on the podium in fourth place.

Ljutic put her stamp on the slalom on the Hirschenkogel in the absence of three-time Semmering winner Mikaela Shiffrin. Already leading by more than half a second at the halfway point, she also set the fastest time in the second run and took 1.75 seconds off Lena Dürr in the final standings. Austria's Katharina Liensberger came in third after an improved run in the second heat, making up four places in the final decision.

The victim was Camille Rast. The skier from Valais lost one position. She was 31 hundredths short of her fourth World Cup podium. Nevertheless, she underlined her status as a top skier in the slalom with her fourth top 5 result in a row. She not only defended the leader's jersey in the discipline rankings, but also regained the lead in the overall World Cup.

Wendy Holdener, still in 4th place at the halfway point and within touching distance of the podium places, lost two places in the second run and finished in 6th place. Mélanie Meillard achieved another top result. The skier from Neuchâtel improved by three places in the decision and finished in 7th place behind Holdener.

Eliane Christen also put in a very strong performance. In only her third World Cup race, the 25-year-old from Uri with bib number 47 skied sensationally into the top 15 and finished twelfth to secure World Cup points for the first time in her career. The same applies to Janine Mächler (26th), who barely made it into the second run in 30th place. Aline Danioth, on the other hand, missed out on her first points after her comeback. She faded in the second run.
