Stephanie Jenal will have to take around six months off due to the knee injury she suffered in her crash in the final training run for the World Cup downhill in Garmisch.
The 25-year-old from Graubünden suffered a torn patella tendon in her left knee in the mishap on Friday. She underwent the necessary operation at the Hirslanden Clinic on Saturday. According to Walter O. Frey, the Swiss-Ski team doctor, rehabilitation will now take around six months.
"We will provide Stephanie with the best possible care so that she can be back at full strength in her recovery training this summer," Frey is quoted as saying in a statement from the federation.
