Marco Odermatt achieves another first and takes his fourth giant slalom victory in a row in Adelboden. Loïc Meillard in second place behind the man from Nidwalden ensures a Swiss double victory.

When only Meillard was left at the top, the crowd in Adelboden already knew that there would be a home victory. The question was: Odermatt or Meillard? For a long time it looked as if the man from Neuchâtel could prevent the fourth triumph for the man from Nidwalden, as he entered the finish slope with a lead of 33 hundredths. However, as in the first run, Odermatt was able to shine here and made the difference. He remained 20 hundredths ahead of Meillard.

Four victories in a row: no one has ever managed that before in Adelboden. Odermatt is also at the top of the overall standings on the Chuenisbärgli: He drew level with Austria's Marcel Hirscher in terms of victories and is just one more success away from Ingemar Stenmark's record.

Meillard still has to wait for his first giant slalom victory

Meillard, who has now also reached the podium in the giant slalom after four podium places in the slalom, was left behind, but is still waiting for his first victory. He will be able to console himself with the fact that the big Swiss party will take place in Adelboden. With Thomas Tumler and Luca Aerni in 4th and 8th place, the locals produced a magnificent result in the Bernese Oberland.

The podium was completed by Italy's Luca De Aliprandini, who made up nine places thanks to the best time in the second run. He celebrated with the Swiss team, which is well known to him as the fiancé of skier Michelle Gisin. The two Norwegians Henrik Kristoffersen and Atle Lie McGrath, who still had a good chance of making the podium after the first run, were eliminated.
