Tanguy Nef and Daniel Yule are racing for a podium place in the slalom in Wengen. The man from Geneva and the man from Valais are in 3rd and 4th place in the intermediate classification of the first run.

Two Norwegians were faster than the Swiss duo. Atle Lie McGrath, who was recently eliminated in the slaloms in Madonna di Campiglio and Adelboden, set the fastest time, 43 hundredths ahead of Henrik Kristoffersen, who leads the discipline rankings. Nef lost 53 hundredths to McGrath, Yule 67 hundredths.

After his successful run, Nef can look towards his first ranking in the top three in the World Cup. He had already made a promising start to this winter. In Levi in Finland, he achieved a personal best with 5th place. For Yule, the season so far has been a run of improvement. His best result to date was 7th place in Madonna di Campiglio.

Things did not go as planned for the other Swiss racers. Loïc Meillard, who failed in the first run in Adelboden after four podium finishes, lost 1.75 seconds to McGrath. Marc Rochat and Luca Aerni are more than two seconds behind and have to worry about qualifying for the second run. Ramon Zenhäusern's slump continues. The man from Valais will not be in the decider.
