Eliane Christen achieves her first victory in the European Cup. The 25-year-old from Uri wins the slalom in Zell am See, which is a real day of joy for Swiss-Ski.
Behind Christen and Charlotte Lingg from Valais, who skied for Liechtenstein, two other Swiss women, Aline Höpli and Elena Stoffel, finished in third and fourth place.
Christen, who was already in the lead after the first run, had only finished in the top 10 twice before in the European Cup. Her best finishes so far were a 4th and a 6th place in slaloms this winter. Shortly before the turn of the year, she sensationally finished twelfth in only her third World Cup race, scoring World Cup points for the first time in her career.
After difficult years with injuries and crashes, the late bloomer now even has the chance to take part in the World Championships.
