A world number 1 in rush mode and a top ten star next to his shoes. The facts of the 4th tournament day at the US Open.

Jannik Sinner seems to have put the turmoil surrounding his positive doping test behind him. After completely messing up the start of his match in the opening round, the world number one put down a clear marker in the second round. The Italian outclassed the up-and-coming American Alex Michelsen (ATP 49) 6:4, 6:0, 6:2 in just 99 minutes. The next match doesn't promise to be a real acid test either. Sinner will face the unseeded Christopher O'Connell (ATP 87). The Australian beat Wawrinka's conqueror Mattia Bellucci in four sets.

Hurkacz the first top ten player to fail

Hubert Hurkacz was the first top ten player to fail in the 2nd round. The world number 7 from Poland had surprisingly little chance against Australian Jordan Thompson (ATP 32) in three sets.
