Van Till had been in with a chance of winning a medal in the field of six participants. Last year, the 33-year-old Romande became world and European time trial champion.

On the way to her latest major success, Van Till had to overcome a scary moment. "I lost my balance at one point. Fortunately, that went away again."

For Van Till, cycling is the third sport she has practiced as a para-athlete. A passionate rider, she had previously also tried her hand at dressage and athletics as a sprinter. Van Till is not only active in sport, but also in politics. She is a member of the Grand Council in the canton of Geneva.
