Genève-Servette's false start in the 2024/25 Champions Hockey League is perfect. The defending champions also lost their second preliminary round game in Finland against the Lahti Pelicans.

The defeat was once again not compelling in terms of the share of the game. After losing 3-2 to the Penguins from Bremerhaven in the opening game, Servette at least earned their first point of the current campaign in a 5-4 defeat on penalties in their second away game. None of Geneva's four shooters were successful with their penalties in the shootout, while Servette goalie Gauthier Descloux was beaten twice.

Servette had previously trailed three times. The visitors equalized at 4:4 through Finland's Teemu Hartikainen only 31 seconds before the end of regulation time. The other Geneva goals were scored by two newcomers: Markus Granlund - also a Finn - made it 1:1 (19th) and 2:3 (39th), Luca Hischier made it 3:3 at the start of the final period.

The Grenats now have two home games away from home next week. As the Les Vernets ice rink in Geneva is still being renovated, Servette will host the champions from Norway (Storhamar Hamar) and Finland (Ilves Tampere) in exile in Visp.
