Tadej Pogacar wins the penultimate stage of the Tour de France with a mountain finish on the Col de la Couillole. He beats Jonas Vingegaard in a sprint on the way to his fifth stage win.
Pogacar did not attack himself during the course of the stage, but came to the front 2 km before the finish in the wake of Vingegaard and Remco Evenepoel, who battled each other and formed all the breakaway groups.
Pogacar attacked in the sprint from the unfavorable first position, Vingegaard did not even try to counterattack. The Slovenian, who has a sixth stage win on Sunday on his way to his third Tour de France victory, was too superior.
The Tour of France ends with a 33 km time trial on a hilly course from Monaco to Nice. The top three positions are likely to be occupied by Pogacar, Vingegaard (5:14 behind) and Evenepoel (8:04).
