In the second last individual race before the Biathlon World Championships in Lenzerheide, the Swiss did not manage a top 10 finish in Antholz. Nevertheless, Joscha Burkhalter and Niklas Hartweg are in good shape.
Joscha Burkhalter (28) confirmed his upward trend as the best Swiss athlete. Last week in Ruhpolding, he made it into the top 10 for the first time. This time he missed the top 10 by 16.6 seconds in 14th place. The penalty loop after the standing stage cost the "fast shooter" Burkhalter around 15 seconds.
Niklas Hartweg (24) missed three shots - one in prone shooting and two in standing shooting - not only deprived him of a top ranking, but probably even a place on the podium. In terms of skiing, Hartweg kept up with everyone. He finished the race 9.3 seconds behind Burkhalter in 17th place.
The other Swiss athletes Sebastian Stalder (63rd), Jérémy Finello (70th) and Dajan Danuser (78th) were disappointing and missed out on qualifying for the pursuit start race at the weekend.
The victory went to Tarjei Bö. The 36-year-old Norwegian celebrated his second win of the season; he previously won the mass start race in Annecy.
