Almost two months after her disappointment at the Olympic Games in Paris, BMX freestyle specialist Nikita Ducarroz wins bronze at the European Championships in Cadenazzo.
At the Games in France's capital, Ducarroz had not made it past 10th place in the qualifiers and missed out on a place in the final. Things did not go well for the Geneva native in Ticino either. She crashed in the second run and missed the opportunity to improve on the score she achieved in the first run.
However, the 83.16 points were enough for a podium finish with a minimal lead. The fourth-placed Brit Elsa Rendall Todd was just five hundredths behind. The title went to Sasha Pardoe, another Briton.
Ducarroz provided a curious moment at the award ceremony. She accepted her medal on a stretcher. However, she was later able to give the all-clear on social media. She did not suffer any serious injuries from her fall.
