Swiss Cycling is making additional investments in cycling, primarily in women's cycling. The national association is announcing the launch of a UCI women's team at the start of the World Cycling Championships in Zurich.
The team will compete at the third-highest level of the world federation from the 2025 season. The team will primarily consist of up-and-coming female riders, who until now have had to go it alone abroad to join the professional teams after the U19 category.
Swiss Cycling also wants to invest in young talent in other ways. The commitment to the U17 squads is generally being stepped up, as the aces at the top of the world are getting younger and younger. And thirdly, a speed project is taking shape. The sports of BMX racing and track sprinting will be combined in a pool, which appears lucrative, especially with a view to the Olympic Games. In track sprinting, for example, numerous medal sets are currently being awarded under the sign of the five rings, which Swiss Cycling is leaving to the competition without a fight.
