After three wins to start the season, the Tampa Bay Lightning suffer their second loss in a row. The team with Janis Moser loses 2:5 in Toronto.
Despite having more shots on goal (34:29), the Lightning were clearly defeated in the end. After an evenly balanced opening period, the Maple Leafs made the difference in the middle period when they pulled away with four goals in 13 minutes. The visitors' 2:5 in overtime with around five minutes to go meant that there was no more tension. Man of the match was the Swede William Nylander with two goals and an assist. Swiss defenseman Janis Moser got almost 22 minutes of ice time with the Lightning, but failed to score and ended up with a balanced record.
