Martin Fuchs in the saddle on Leone Jei wins the highly lucrative Grand Prix of Calgary, just like a year ago. The competition in Canada is part of the Grand Slam series.

The rider from Zurich competed in a jump-off against Ireland's Darragh Kenny with Cartello and Germany's Daniel Deusser on Killer Queen after two clear rounds each. None of the trio went clear this time, but Fuchs collected the fewest penalty points with just one knockdown.

Olympic silver medallist Steve Guerdat also rode into the generous prize money in fourth place. The rider from the Jura saddled Venard and not his European Championship gold and Olympic silver horse Dynamix. A time overrun in the first round prevented him from taking part in the jump-off.

Calgary, whose Grand Prix is endowed with the equivalent of almost two million Swiss francs, forms the Grand Slam series in show jumping together with Aachen, Geneva and 's-Hertogenbosch. If Fuchs wins again in Geneva in December, he will receive a bonus of 500,000 euros in addition to the prize money.
