Marc Hirschi continues to build up his confidence ahead of the World Championships at home. With his eighth win of the season at the Memorial Marco Pantani, the rider from Bern extended his impressive run of successes.

Hirschi won the Italian one-day race, which led over almost 196 km from Cesena to Cesenatico on the Adriatic coast, in a sprint ahead of the locals Lorenzo Milesi and Vincenzo Albanese. On Sunday and Thursday, the 26-year-old from Ittigen, who is moving from UAE Emirates to the Swiss team Tudor for next season, was successful as a soloist in Tuscany.

If you include his victories in the classic in San Sebastian and the Bretagne Classic, Hirschi has now been unbeaten in five races. His big goal this fall is the World Championship road race on September 29 in Zurich.
