Marc Hirschi takes 2nd place in the 3rd stage of the Tour of the Czech Republic. The 25-year-old from Bern extends his lead in the overall classification.

Marc Hirschi was only beaten by 22-year-old Brit Thomas Gloag in the finish of the 134 km from Moravska Trebova up to Dlouhe strane. Gloag wrote a cheesy story with his victory: almost exactly one year ago, the young Brit was hit by a car during training. His kneecap was totally damaged. Nobody could say whether Thomas Gloag would ever be able to race again. He started again for the first time in the Czech Republic - and celebrated his first professional victory in stage 3.

But Hirschi also continued to impress. The Swiss rider made the strongest impression in the finish of the mountain finish. Before the final stage on Sunday, Hirschi extended his lead over the first chaser, the Italian Diego Ulissi, to 22 seconds. Hirschi also continues to lead the points classification and is second in the mountains classification behind the Czech Michal Schuran.
