The Rapperswil-Jona Lakers will continue to be coached by Johan Lundskog in the coming season. The 40-year-old has signed a two-year contract with the Eastern Swiss club.
The Swedish-Canadian dual national was promoted from assistant coach to head coach in mid-December following the release of Stefan Hedlund. With him, St. Gallen made the leap from penultimate place in the table to the play-in. There, Rapperswil was eliminated by Ambri.
Lundskog, who gained his first head coaching experience in Bern before Rapperswil, will continue to be assisted by Fabian Gunnarsson. "Johan has convinced us with both his work and his manner," Lakers CEO Markus Bütler is quoted as saying in the press release. "He is a proven expert and an excellent communicator."
