Leader Lausanne's winning streak comes to an end after eight games. The Vaud team lost 4:1 at the Spengler Cup winners Fribourg-Gottéron, while the runners-up SCB also lost.
It took 47 seconds for Fribourg to take a 1-0 lead at home against Lausanne - and after that, they always held the reins in their home stadium, which had been sold out for the past year. After eight wins in a row, Lausanne once again had to leave the ice as losers.
First-placed Bern did not make up any ground. Ambri-Piotta suffered a 2:4 defeat at home.
In the battle for a place in the top six and direct qualification for the play-off quarter-finals, Zug won 3-2 against Kloten thanks to a goal in the last minute.
In addition to Fribourg and Ambri, Biel (5:1 in Langnau) and the Rapperswil-Jona Lakers (3:1 against Ajoie) also recorded important victories. The SCL Tigers are in free fall, the defeat against Biel was their fifth in a row.
