Last year's winner Harald Amundsen pulls out of the Tour de Ski on the rest day. He is ill.
FIS officials confirmed the withdrawal of the 26-year-old Norwegian, who was in third place overall before the 5th stage.
Amundsen told the local media that he woke up on Thursday morning "with a burning throat and a headache". As a result, a continuation of the stage race, which finishes on Sunday, is "hopeless".
Amundsen won both the Tour and the overall World Cup last winter. In the current edition, he triumphed in the two stages on New Year's Eve and New Year's Day in Dobbiaco. In third place overall, he finished 57 seconds behind his leading compatriot Johannes Klaebo.
