The Rapperswil-Jona Lakers remain without points for the first time in their ninth game of the season. They lost 1:3 in Lugano.

Last season, the away team prevailed in all four meetings between these two teams, always scoring at least seven goals. The Lakers even won the last three games in Lugano, with a goal difference of 16:4. This time, only Nico Dünner was successful for St. Gallen, scoring on the power play to make it 1:2 (54'). The preparatory work was done by Tyler Moy, who scored for the eighth game in a row.

Lugano made it 1:0 after just 122 seconds. Stephane Patry moved into the slot from behind the goal and caught Rapperswil goalie Melvin Nyffeler between the pads. Matthew Verboon increased the lead to 2:0 in the 44th minute. 76 seconds before the end, Luca Fazzini made it 3:1. The 29-year-old striker, who also had his stick in the 1:0, is currently in top form. It was his fifth goal and eighth point in the last five matches.

Lugano did more to win the game, so the victory was a fair one. The Bianconeri had already decided the first three home games of the current championship in their favor after 60 minutes. Thanks to the three points, they moved up from 7th to 2nd place in the standings, with Rapperswil-Jona equal third on points.
