On the day that La Chaux-de-Fonds was given the green light for a possible promotion to the National League, it suffered a sporting setback. The team from Neuchâtel only reduced the deficit to 2:3 in Weinfelden with 35 seconds remaining - too late for a turnaround.
With the win, Thurgau moved to within four points of La Chaux-de-Fonds in third place. Between them, two points behind the leaders, is EHC Basel, who recorded their fourth win in a row with a 4-0 win in Winterthur.
