The ZSC Lions, reigning champions and leaders, lose the first Zurich derby of the season in Kloten 2:3 on penalties.

Zurich SC has lost all of its last four derbies against Kloten. Despite the defeat, the Lions remain at the top of the table, which they took over two weeks ago - because their first rivals, Lausanne Hockey Club, lost 2:5 in Davos.

Genève-Servette played their first home game of the season against Rapperswil-Jona Lakers after eight away games - and won the game 5-3 thanks to four goals in the final period after trailing 3-1. The Geneva team is now on the hunt to catch up. They will play four games within six days, three of them at Les Vernets Hall, where they were only able to train again on Thursday for the first time since the renovation. Servette had played all of their home games in the Champions Hockey League in Visp.

In Ticino, things looked very disillusioning for a long time. But at least in Lugano there was rejoicing at the end. HC Lugano turned the game against Ajoie around after trailing 2:3 after two periods to win 4:3. Ambri-Piotta overcame a 0:3 deficit against the SCL Tigers thanks to an impressive final spurt, but still ended up empty-handed with a final score of 3:4.

The duel between the two teams that "under-performed" during the first month of the season was won 4-2 by EV Zug against HC Fribourg-Gottéron.
