In the special World Cup race over 20 km skating with mass start from St. Moritz to Silvaplana, Jonas Baumann from Graubünden finished in a good 12th place.
As expected, the Norwegians were in a class of their own on the course, which was started on Lake St. Moritz. After the heavy snowfall until shortly before midday, a breakaway group was hopeless from the start. As expected, Johannes Hösflot Klaebo was also unbeatable in the sprint, followed by five other Norwegians and three Frenchmen.
One of the best of the "rest" was Jonas Baumann. The 34-year-old from Splügen was always among the front runners in the large field and achieved his second good result within a week. A week ago, he finished eighth in Les Rousses in a much weaker field. He had only achieved better than 12th place in the Engadine six times in his long World Cup career.
Candide Pralong from Valais also achieved a pleasing result with 20th place.
Astrid Öyre Slind from Norway also triumphed in the women's race. She ventured an early solo escape with her compatriot Nora Sanness and also benefited from excellent material. The best Swiss athlete was sprint specialist Nadine Fähndrich in 24th place. Marina Kälin from St. Moritz finished in 29th place directly ahead of her teammate Anja Weber.
