The 32-year-old Genevan Jérémy worked his way up from 31st to 11th place in the first half of the race. His best ranking since the 2021 World Championships in Pokljuka (17th at the time) beckoned. However, five mistakes at the third (2) and fourth (3) shooting threw Finello back.

Joscha Burkhalter ran and shot himself into 36th place, while Sebastian Stalder, who started the race from 14th on the grid, was pushed down to 50th place.

Norway's Johannes Thingnes Bö secured his third win of the season and extended his lead in the World Cup standings.

Lena Häcki-Gross' race to catch up

In the women's pursuit race, Lena Häcki-Gross set out to catch up after the botched sprint. The 29-year-old from Obwalden moved up from 33rd position to 15th place. With 18 out of 20 targets cleared, the two-time World Cup winner was the fastest at the shooting range.

Lea Meier, the second Swiss starter, made five shooting errors and dropped back from 36th to 44th place.

The victory was secured for the third time this season by the German World Cup leader Franziska Preuss.
