Jasmin Liechti wins the silver medal in the U23 time trial at the Cycling and Paracycling Road World Championships in Zurich. This is the second medal for Switzerland at the home World Championships.

The medal for the 21-year-old from Burgdorf came as something of a surprise. Jasmin Liechti was not one of the first contenders for the podium in the 29.9 km race, which was integrated into the elite category competition. Gold went to the German Antonia Niedermaier.

Jasmin Liechti's performance should be highly rated. She lost only 15 seconds to the Olympic 17th-placed Elena Hartmann. Antonia Niedermaier was 1:15 minutes ahead and out of reach. The German finished fourth in the elite category, missing the podium by just nine seconds.
