After the Olympic Games is before the Paralympics. On August 28, the 17th Paralympic Games will open with a parade through the center of Paris to the Place de la Concorde.

Afterwards, around 4400 athletes will compete for 549 sets of medals until September 8. The competition venues are the same as at the Olympic Games. For example, the impressive arena at the foot of the Eiffel Tower, where the beach volleyball tournaments were previously held, will host the blind football competitions.

These will be the first Paralympic Games to be held in Paris. This is because the Paralympics did not even exist when the Olympic equivalent took place in the French capital in 1900 and 1924. They only celebrated their premiere in Rome in 1960.

Swiss Paralympic is traveling with 27 athletes and has set itself the target of 14 medals.
