After Fribourg-Gottéron, HC Davos also wins its second game at the Spengler Cup. The home team defeated the Straubing Tigers 5:0 and can still hope to qualify directly for the semi-finals.

The HCD showed a good reaction to the 2:6 defeat against Team Canada the day before and was much more stable, especially defensively. In addition, goalie Luca Hollenstein had a brilliant performance with 35 shots saved.
Calle Andersson in the middle third on the power play (28') and Adam Tambellini after a fine individual effort by Yannick Frehner (47'), Tino Kessler (52'), Frehner (54') and Brendan Lemiuex (56') in two-minute intervals in the final period scored the goals for what was ultimately a (somewhat too) clear victory for Davos.
The hosts thus kept alive their hopes of winning the group and advancing directly to the semi-finals. Straubing would have to beat the Canadians on Saturday to do so. This would give the HCD an extra day off, otherwise they will play one of the two quarter-finals on Sunday.
After the Davos team had been literally run over by Team Canada, the home team also had to play the Lower Bavarians from Straubing for ten minutes. The shooting ratio was 12:3 at one point, and the HCD could thank its goalie for not falling behind.
But then they managed to even things up against the Tigers, who were playing with ten North Americans. In the final period, almost every shot was a goal.
