Nico Hischier and Timo Meier make the fans of the New Jersey Devils cheer. With one goal each, the two Swiss forwards played a decisive role in the 20th win of this NHL season.
In the home game against the Chicago Blackhawks, the league's worst team in terms of points, the New Jersey Devils struggled for a long time. The team with the Swiss trio of Nico Hischier, Timo Meier and Jonas Siegenthaler trailed 0:1 until the 43rd minute, before turning things around with four goals in just under ten minutes.
Hischier and Meier made a decisive contribution to the late fortune. Meier provided the assist for the 1:1 equalizer and scored the goal to make it 4:1. Just 18 seconds earlier, Hischier had made it 3:1 with his 16th goal of the season. For the visitors from Chicago, Philipp Kurashev finished the game with a minus-1 rating.
Bichsel with first NHL win
Lian Bichsel got his first win in his second game in the best ice hockey league in the world. Two days after his debut, in which he shone as a goal scorer, the defenseman from Solothurn won his home game with the Dallas Stars against the St. Louis Blues 2:1 after overtime.
The Nashville Predators fell back into their old rut two days after the redemptive 4:1 win against Dallas following eight defeats in a row. Without their injured Swiss captain Roman Josi, the team from the state of Tennessee, which was highly rated before the start of the season, suffered a 5-2 defeat away to the Colorado Avalanche.
Janis Moser is also new to the injured list. The defenseman from Biel was absent from the Tampa Bay Lightning's 5-1 away win against the Seattle Kraken.
Wins for Fiala and Niederreiter
Nino Niederreiter contributed an assist in the Winnipeg Jets' 4-2 home win against the Montreal Canadiens. Pius Suter went scoreless in the Vancouver Canucks' 5-1 defeat at home to the Boston Bruins, as did Kevin Fiala in the Los Angeles Kings' 5-1 win over the New York Rangers.
