Participation in the World Cup Final in Basel in April, the highlight for the Swiss aces in 2025, is once again realistic. Five questions for the Zurich native:

Martin Fuchs, can you be counted among the winners of the World Cup jumping at CHI Basel in fourth place?

"Winner is a bit high. But I am certainly very satisfied. Commissar Pezi was in good form and my performance was also good. I am happy."

Do you regret your tactic of going for the win in the jump-off? The one mistake after a risky turn threw you back to fourth place. A safe ride would probably have earned you more points.

"No, you don't tactic in the jump-off in front of a home crowd. In a situation like this, I ride to win."

The winner Julien Epaillard took the further route around an obstacle in the jump-off before the two-rider combination, where you cut short. Couldn't you have won with this safe option?

"I saw Julien's ride that opened the jump-off. It was clear to me then that I wouldn't beat him with the same variant. Hence the in-turn. But I'm still going to analyze on video whether it really wouldn't have been enough on the outside."

You were under a lot of pressure with a view to qualifying for the World Cup final. How big is the burden that has fallen from your shoulders after the result in Basel?

(jokes) "The pressure is only there now. Before, I had no chance of making it to the final, now I have one again."

As a top ten rider in the world rankings, you are guaranteed a starting place in every World Cup competition. What does your further program look like?

"Leipzig, Amsterdam, Bordeaux and Gothenburg: I'll be competing everywhere."
