It took 88 minutes to decide the first game in Bern on Friday in favor of Gottéron. The second duel in front of 9262 spectators was much less thrilling and exciting. Gottéron led 2-0 after just twelve minutes and the Bern skating club disappointed across the board. Nobody took responsibility, nobody stood up to Fribourg's onslaught.

Jakob Lilja made it 1:0 in the 7th minute, deflecting a long-range flick from Ryan Gunderson. Sandro Schmid increased the lead to 2:0 after twelve minutes, simply tapping the puck into the open net after a brilliant assist from Lucas Wallmark.

No reaction

Bern's reaction? It failed to materialize. In the second period, in which the Bernese offense would have been challenged, they only managed two shots on goal. Reto Berra finally recorded his third playoff shutout (29 saves). Berra was only tested in the final period. Berra has never had two shutouts in the same playoffs.

Marcus Sörensen secured the win at the start of the final period. First, his solo run was stopped with a foul; then Sörensen converted the penalty that was due. The puck rolled between the legs of the Swede Adam Reideborn, who was standing in front of the Bern goal for Philip Wüthrich.
