Uli Forte is the new coach of Super League bottom club Winterthur. Prior to this, the Zurich native will terminate his contract with Neuchâtel Xamax in the Challenge League.
On Christmas Eve, Xamax announced the termination of Forte's contract by mutual agreement, while FC Winterthur announced his arrival on its website. At FCW, Forte succeeds the recently dismissed Ognjen Zaric. The 50-year-old is set to lead the currently bottom team to a place in the league and has signed a one-and-a-half-year contract.
Forte has a lot of experience in Swiss football. The 50-year-old has played 209 games in the Super League and 250 in the Challenge League as coach of YB, FCZ, GC, St. Gallen, Yverdon and Wil. "We are convinced that we have found the right man for our goals in Uli Forte," said sporting director Oliver Kaiser in a press release.
Xamax occupy 6th place in the Challenge League and want to announce Forte's successor soon. According to reports, it is likely to be Anthony Braizat.
