Equalizer in the 98th minute Stones saves a point for ManCity against Arsenal in extremis

Arsenal have to play outnumbered for a half in the Premier League's top match against Manchester City - and still almost win away from home. John Stones only managed to equalize in the 98th minute.

Arsenal miss out on victory at Manchester City in the top match of the 5th Premier League round. The champions equalized at the last second to make it 2:2.

Arsenal already looked like the new Premier League leaders. Then John Stones came on and scored the equalizer for the overwhelmingly superior home team. Until then, the Gunners had defended passionately and cleverly when outnumbered. The visitors from London played the entire second half with one man less after Leandro Trossard was shown a yellow card in first-half stoppage time.

At that point, Arsenal were leading 2-1 after goals from former Basel player Ricardo Calafiori, who scored his first Premier League goal, and Gabriel. Erling Haaland had already given City, who were playing with Manuel Akanji in defense, the lead in the 9th minute with his anniversary goal. The Norwegian scored for the 100th time in his 105th game for the champions. He now has 10 goals in five games this season.

Thanks to the last-gasp equalizer, Manchester City remain top of the table, one point ahead of Liverpool and Aston Villa. Arsenal are two points behind in 4th place.
