Barça take advantage of a slip-up Real Madrid beat Leganés and make up ground

Spanish top-flight club Real Madrid had little trouble at neighbors CD Leganés. The Whites took advantage of their great rivals' slip-up the previous day.

Real Madrid are closing in on arch-rivals FC Barcelona at the top of the Spanish Primera División table. The Whites, with international Antonio Rüdiger in the starting eleven, won 3-0 (1-0) at neighbors CD Leganés on Sunday evening and reduced the gap to Barça to four points. Real have also played one game less, while Barcelona were held to a 2-2 draw at Celta Vigo on Saturday.

French star player Kylian Mbappé gave Real the lead in the 43rd minute after an assist from Vinícius Júnior. It was preceded by a mistake by Adrià Altimira, who lost the ball while dribbling in his own penalty area. In the second half, Federico Valverde (66') decided the game with a free kick, before former Bundesliga professional Jude Bellingham (85') also scored with a header.
