For a long time, superstar Kylian Mbappé watched Real Madrid's stroll into the last 16 of the Spanish football cup from the bench. Coach Carlo Ancelotti was able to afford to give many of his top players a breather ahead of the trip to Saudi Arabia for the Super Cup in a relaxed 5-0 win over fourth-division side Deportiva Minera.
Mbappé made himself comfortable on the touchline with a light blue hood pulled over his head until the 63rd minute, when he was substituted for compatriot Eduardo Camavinga.
By this point, the Madrid B team, who were able to conserve their strength, were already 4-0 up, Fede Valverde putting the Primera Division leaders in front in the fifth minute. Camavinga (13) and Arda Güler (28) increased the lead before the break. Former star Luka Modric (55) and then Güler again (88) added to their tally after the break.
Real will play the semi-final of the Spanish Super Cup against RCD Mallorca on Thursday in the King Abdullah Sports City in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
