LaLiga Mbappé and Vinicius let Real celebrate

Real Madrid win 2-1 against Celta Vigo, with Kylian Mbappé and Vinicius Junior scoring for the Madrilenians.

Kylian Mbappé has returned to the football stage after his injury and legal turmoil with a goal. The 25-year-old star striker scored in the 20th minute of his club Real Madrid's 2:1 (1:0) win in the Spanish football championship at Celta Vigo to make it 1:0. After Williot Swendberg equalized in the 51st minute, Vinicius Junior made sure of the win in the 66th minute. Real thus drew level on points with leaders FC Barcelona ahead of their Champions League clash against Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday (21:00).

The 2018 World Cup winner had missed France's most recent Nations League games in Brussels against Belgium (2:1) and in Budapest against Israel (4:1) due to a foot injury. Instead, he traveled to Sweden privately. Afterwards, the captain was confronted with media reports about an investigation into a rape there in Sweden, against which he defended himself. "He knows that he has absolutely nothing to reproach himself with," his lawyer Marie-Alix Canu-Bernard told the broadcaster TF1.

Rape allegations are in the air

"Kylian is unperturbed. He knows what he has done and, above all, what he has not done. He is very calm," Canu-Bernard told the newspaper "Le Parisien". He added that charges would be filed for defamation or for the submission of a fabricated crime.

The Stockholm police would neither confirm nor deny the case when asked by the German Press Agency. Referring to media reports on the alleged rape, the public prosecutor in charge, Marina Chirakova, said that the police had received a rape complaint. The incident took place in a hotel in the center of Stockholm. The public prosecutor's office did not want to say who the complaint was against when asked by dpa.
