  • Manchester United are currently struggling to find a way out of their slump in the championship. The home game against Newcastle United with Fabian Schär was lost 0:2.
  • Ruben Amorim's team were 2-0 down after just 20 minutes. The fourth defeat in a row means the team is still stuck in the bottom third of the table in 14th place and is only seven points clear of the relegation zone. Newcastle, on the other hand, maintained 5th place.
  • Things are also not going well for Chelsea at the end of the year. Although the Londoners remain in the chasing pack behind leaders Liverpool, they have now gone three games without a win. On Monday evening, they even lost 2-0 away against promoted and relegation candidates Ipswich Town.

Manchester United remain in crisis in the Premier League. The English record champions conceded a 2-0 home defeat against Newcastle United in their final game of the year. The fourth defeat in a row means that the team of new coach Ruben Amorim is still stuck in the bottom third of the table in 14th place and is only seven points clear of the relegation zone.

Newcastle, on the other hand, maintained fifth place thanks to goals from Alexander Isak (4th minute) and Joelinton (19th). Amorim reacted after just over half an hour, replacing the weak Joshua Zirkzee with Kobbie Mainoo. The home side's play improved after that, but lacked penetration in attack.

Chelsea FC had previously suffered a surprising defeat. The fourth-placed side lost 2-0 at relegation-threatened newcomers Ipswich Town, with Liam Delap (12) scoring from the penalty spot and Omari Hutchinson (53) ensuring the promoted side's success. Ipswich had yet to win a home game this season and had suffered five defeats in their previous six matches.

Brighton & Hove Albion, coached by Fabian Hürzeler, fought out a 2-2 (1-1) draw at Aston Villa. Ollie Watkins (36th penalty) and Morgan Rogers (47th) scored for the hosts, Simon Adingra (12th) and Tariq Lamptey (81st) for Brighton.
