Liverpool FC and Manchester United draw 2-2, with the goals coming in the second half.
Liverpool FC squandered a prestigious win against rivals Manchester United. The Reds turned the north-west derby in the English Premier League into a 2:1 draw after falling behind, but had to settle for a 2:2 (0:0) in the end. However, Liverpool remain top of the table with a six-point lead over their closest rivals Arsenal FC. For Man United, the draw was a success after four consecutive defeats in competitive matches.
Argentinian Lisandro Martínez (52nd minute) had initially put the visitors ahead, but the deficit woke up the hitherto lethargic favorites. The in-form Cody Gakpo (59') and Mohamed Salah (70'/manual penalty) gave Liverpool the lead before Amad Diallo (80') scored a not undeserved equalizer for the Red Devils.
England's new national team coach Thomas Tuchel was also in the stands to watch the highly entertaining game in the second half.
Cancellation of the match was possible
Due to the driving snow in the Liverpool area during the day, there was a possibility of the match being called off. However, after two safety meetings, it was decided that the game at Anfield could go ahead as planned. At least for the players there were no major restrictions - apart from the onset of rain - because many hard-working helpers had cleared the pitch of snow with shovels before kick-off.
