Lead grows Liverpool continue their advance - Salah with 230th goal

Liverpool FC win 3-1 against Leicester City and their lead over their closest rivals continues to grow.

Liverpool gained some breathing space at the top of the table with a 3:1 win over Leicester City (after falling behind). Their lead over Chelsea, who lost 2-1 to their neighbors Fulham after leading until the 82nd minute, is now seven points - with a supplementary game up their sleeve.

The Reds initially fell behind against Leicester on Boxing Day, but Cody Gakpo hammered the leaders into an equalizer just before the break. Curtis Jones then added to the lead after the break before Mohamad Salah unleashed a wonderful strike in the 82nd minute to make it 3-1. The Egyptian's goal was his 250th goal for Liverpool.

Nottingham move up to 3rd place

Nottingham Forest moved up to third place after inflicting Tottenham's first Boxing Day defeat in 20 years with a 1-0 win. Nottingham Forest finished last season in 17th place and invested a lot of money before the season. Nottingham are proving that you can have success with spectacular investment - not like Manchester United, who invested even more and lost four league games (out of 5), this time 2-0 to Wolverhampton). In the next two weeks, ManU will face Newcastle (h), Liverpool (a) and Arsenal (a).
