Canada is the second team to qualify for the semi-finals of the Copa America after defending champions Argentina. The Canadians beat Venezuela 4:3 on penalties in Arlington, Texas.

The game was tied 1:1 after 120 minutes. Copa newcomers Canada took the lead in the 13th minute with a goal from Jacob Shaffelburg. Salomon Rondon kept Venezuela's hopes of reaching the quarter-finals for the second time since 2011 alive with an equalizer in the 65th minute. However, the South Americans were disillusioned in the penalty shoot-out with three missed shots. Ismael Kone from Olympique Marseille became Canada's sixth scorer to decide the game.

The Canadians will now try to get revenge on Lionel Messi's defending champions Argentina, who they lost 2-0 to in the opening game, in the semi-final on Wednesday night.

The other two semi-finalists will be determined on Sunday night in the games between Colombia and Panama and Uruguay and Brazil.
