Arsenal FC wins the prestigious derby against Chelsea FC. However, this is hardly noticeable in the Premier League table.

Arsenal FC, second in the Premier League table, won the London derby against fourth-placed Chelsea FC 1:0. Mikel Merino (20th minute) scored the winning goal for the Gunners with a header. There was no change in the league position of either club. Arsenal are still twelve points behind leaders Liverpool FC.

Arsenal dominate, Chelsea sluggish

Coach Mikel Arteta's side clearly dominated the early stages at the Emirates Stadium and were rewarded after 20 minutes with Merino's goal from a Martin Ödegaard corner. The hosts were unable to make more of their chances.

Chelsea took a long time to get into the game. The visitors even had the chance to equalize. A shot from Marc Cucurella slipped through the hands of Arsenal keeper David Raya, but then rolled just wide of the goal. Otherwise, Chelsea FC did not manage much.
