Flurina Bätschi narrowly misses out on the second World Cup podium of her career. The 21-year-old from Davos finished 4th in the parallel slalom in Bad Gastein.
In the semi-final, Bätschi was beaten by the overall World Cup leader and eventual runner-up Tsubaki Miki by a wafer-thin margin and came down in a good position in the run for third place against Italy's Elisa Caffont. However, 4th place, together with Yanqing in December, is her second best World Cup result after 3rd place in her home race in Davos before Christmas.
In the quarter-finals, Bätschi had prevailed against the Swiss number 1 Julie Zogg, who virtually took herself out of the race with a time-consuming mistake. In the men's event, Gian Casanova (7th), the best Swiss player, was eliminated in the quarter-finals. The victories went to the Italian Aaron March and the German Ramona Hofmeister.
