The team coached by Esa Jussila, who is well known in Switzerland, won the final against the hosts 5:4 after extra time, thus preventing Sweden's hat-trick.

In the eleventh Scandinavian final, the two Swedish Zug United legionnaires Albin Sjögren and Johan Samuelsson as well as Emil Johansson and Malte Lundmark scored until the 25th minute to give the home team a supposedly reassuring four-goal lead. Led by double goal scorer Justus Kainulainen, however, the Finns managed to equalize once more and finally win. The golden goal was scored by Miska Mäkinen in the 9th minute of extra time.

The Finns triumphed for the fifth time after 2008, 2010, 2016 and 2018. For the Swedes, it was the first time at their fourth home World Cup that they failed to win the title in front of their own fans. The last time they won away from home was in Helsinki in 2021 and Zurich in 2022.

The Czech Republic secured bronze with an undisputed 8:2 win over Swiss quarter-final opponents Latvia.
