Jamaica's long jumper Tajay Gayle, of all people, copes best with the cold at the Diamond League final in Brussels. He wins the competition with 8.28 m, Simon Ehammer comes second.

After 7.94 m and the lead after the first round, the man from Appenzell improved to 8.16 m in his sixth attempt. This performance in the field of the best long jumpers was enough for second place and 12,000 euros in prize money.

Gayle thus gained revenge for the 2022 final in Eugene. There, the Doha 2019 world champion reached 8.22 m like the winner Ehammer, but came second. And Gayle also managed to make amends for the Games in Paris, where he had failed to qualify.

In contrast to Rome and Paris, Ehammer kept Greece's high-flyer Miltiadis Tentoglou and Italy's youngster Mattia Furlani, who won European silver and Olympic bronze this year, at bay in Brussels. Olympic and European champion Tentoglou improved to 8.15 m in his final attempt, but Ehammer countered.
