The rider from Geneva therefore has an intact chance of obtaining a ticket for the World Cup Final in Basel at the beginning of April, where the top 18 from Europe are admitted. Schmitz had already finished second at the start of the indoor season in Oslo. The next opportunity to score points will follow in just under two weeks at CHI Basel. This winter, Andy Kistler's OC is organizing both the World Cup event in January and the World Cup Final in April.
The jumping competition in Mechelen was won by the German Hans-Dieter Dreher with Vestmalle des Cotis. Schmitz was the only Swiss rider at the start.
