SC Bern defeats the Rapperswil-Jona Lakers 4:2 and celebrates its fourth win in a row. It is the fifth defeat in a row for St. Gallen.

Having gone four games in a row without scoring a powerplay goal, the Bernese took advantage of their first chance in overtime. Marc Marchon was in the right place after a rebound from Rapperswil goalkeeper Ivars Punnenovs and put the hosts ahead for the second time in the game in the 25th minute. 32 seconds before the second break, Waltteri Merelä increased the lead to 3:1 with a deflection. It was the Finn's 14th goal in the current championship.

In the final period, the Bernese initially controlled the game before conceding a short-handed goal by Viktor Rask in the 56th minute. After that, SCB could thank goalie Philip Wüthrich, who is moving to Ambri-Piotta after the season, that the score was not 3:3. He made a miraculous save against Pontus Aberg in the 59th minute, and shortly afterwards Jonas Taibel was also unable to get the puck past the 27-year-old from a prime position. With 47.9 seconds remaining, Bern's top scorer Austin Czarnik made it all clear with a shot into an empty net.

SCB thus took revenge for their 2-1 away defeat in the first game of the season against the Lakers, who remain 11th in the table.
